Bubble and Chic, tales of a girl from Rotherham embarking on a new adventure in Europe’s capital..
Originally from a small town in the North of England well known for KP Nuts and the comical duo the Chuckle Brothers, I spent 3 years enjoying the bright lights of Birmingham before fulfilling my childhood dream of living in Paris. A year of living in the most romantic city in the world, I then decided to move to yet another city of love, Verona, where I spent 10 years living la Bella Vita.
Any period of time in an unfamiliar environment leaves its mark and I’m sure that a decade of living in Verona taught more than I can write here, or that I even realise myself. Besides learning one of the most creative and beautiful languages on the planet and mastering surviving the mayhem of Italian roads, I also fell in love with wine. An almost tee-totaller in my UK days (being a control freak and fiercely independent I always prefered to be the designated driver) and still unable to get the taste for wine despite living in France for a year (in those days I preferred a Malibu Ananas when I could afford one) I’ve been immersed in the wine world for the past 8 years. Having had the opportunity to organise and be a part of some of the best Italian wine events around the globe, share glasses with people who make some of the best wines on the planet, chatter with vino-world celebs, and through a couple of years of study be able to tell the difference between a Brunello and a Barolo, I’ve become part of this curious and faintly glamourous world of wine.
Wine is now an integral part of my work organising events and helping Italian wineries with communication, but what really excites me, is the opportunity to explore new countries, new cultures and meet new people – and if its combined with wine, even better.. Whilst in Italy I had the opportunity to travel the globe and developed a fascination with Asia. At the time I was working so hard and sleeping so little that blogging wasn’t an option so most posts here I’m afraid are about my new life in Belgium (with the occasional exception). Wherever possible though, I’ll try to add something from those mad journeys..
So here you’ll find wine stories, a couple of posts about the frustration involved with a move to a foreign country but mainly you’ll find tales of the interesting places I come across..

I read that you liked the better Belgian Wines. May I inform you about Belartisan? (here comes the picth) A shop with only Belgian, artisanal food? We have a cozy shop in Sint-Pieters-Woluwe, Brussel. Although, if you want to discover more wine you’re best to visit our other shop in Antwerpen. We hold tastings as well
Next one should be around March.
Have a bubbly New Year!
Thanks Frederic, I will definitely come and check out your shop in St Peters Woluwe very soon! I’d also be very interested in your wine tastings too!
You can always send your (e-mail) address to info@belartisan.com. You’ll than be notified about tasting in Antwerpen, Gent and/or Brugge. Feel free to specify about which cities you’d like to be informed.
I love wine and travel…so I’m looking forward to reading more!
Thank you!
